It happened in Litchfield County around 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, on Rossie Road near the border of the town of Litchfield and town of Torrington, according to multiple sources.
The teens killed were identified by multiple sources as two 16-year-old Litchfield High School students, Thomas Graveline, of Litchfield and Matthew Rousseau, of Northfield.
Three others, also Litchfield High School students, in the vehicle who were seriously injured were identified as Camilla Seymour, 14, Anthony Caselas, 16, and Dylan Brocar, 16.
The crash reportedly occurred after the vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, hit a tree, before bursting into flames.
The Superintendent of Litchfield Schools, Christopher Leone, issued a statement regarding the crash.
“I ask at this time you take a moment and offer a prayer, or positive thoughts, for our students, their families, and our community, as it experiences a difficult situation," he said.
Leone said counseling will be available from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, and from 9 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at the Litchfield High School Gymnasium for student and staff support.
